Dobrich

The hamlet of Dobrich is situated in the south-western part of Bulgaria, favorably nested at the foot of Strandja mountain, only 9 km from the town of Elhovo. The village of Dobrich is near the town of Bourgas (only 90 km) boasting a lot of public amenities and an Airport servicing National and International flights.
The plain relief in the north parts gradually turns to low-mountain - here is included a part of the Dervent Elevations, which are very like to the Stranja Mountain on their geographical characteristics. A conditional boundary between them is the flat saddle from which the Popovska River springs. The state boundary with Turkey passes along their crest. In the vicinity of the village is strewn of hills and fortress, which prove antiquity of the village. There is a large number of mounds and ruins of ancient villages in the vicinity of the hamlet of Dobrich. In the summer of the year 2005 archaeologists from the Archaeological Institute-Sofia made sensational discovery – entirely retained funeral of Tracian king from the beginning of IVth century BC. For the first time all attributes of the rule berried together with the ruler. The ruler was wearing bronze helmet decorated with Gorogona's snakes. A leather cloth with 28 golden applications of coin size was found in the mound. The helmet was enwreathed with golden wreath and another golden wreath was found on the ruler's finger. In the tomb were also find a vase with Orpheus's portrait on it, two silver rhytons, richly decorated with scenes representing deeds of the mythical hero Hercules...The found treasure is kept in the National Historic Museum – Sofia.
The village of Dobrich is within a short driving distance of the hamlet of Stefan Karadjovo /15 km /. Stefan Karadjovo is popular with a sanatorium complex and a medicinal spring. The curative qualities of the water are very like to these of ' Karlovi vari ' - Czech and to 'Kislovodsk' – Russia. Hhydrocarbonate – magnesium mineralized water is recommended for heart-attacks, kidney- urological and stomach-diseases . Its quality and capacity enable that the tourism in all settlements around, including the village of Dobrich, to develop.
