It is located eastern of Sakar mountain, along Dervent elevations. Sakar mountain grabs visitors with its beautiful wild nature, attracting with its various flora and fauna. It is a haven for different species of rapacious birds near extincion. The highest point is 'Vishegrad' peak (856.3 m) and the lowest is 'Toklu' dully (45 m). Dervent elevations are a low-hilly region located eastern of Tundja river. Along their main ridge passes the frontier between Bulgaria and Turkey. Its altitude above sea level is between 100m and 556 m. About two-third of the Dervent elevations' territory is covered with oak forests. Rarely, mainly in the south parts of the elevations predominate mixed oak forests. The hills are separated by a great number of river valleys, strewn with the typical for the valleys vegetations. The Tounja River passes through the low-mountain range in the south part, separating the Dervent Elevations from the Sakar Mountain. The river forms a picturesque canyon between them. Its steep valleys and numerous windings make the region picturesque and attractive.
