Kalchevo

The village of Kalchevo is situated in the south-eastern part of Bulgaria, 25 km from Yambol and 80 km from the sea town of Burgas.
The villages near the hamlet of Kalchevo are: Kamenets and Pobeda. The population of the village are about 670 inhabitants.
A few years ago the first windmill power station in the village was build.
The hamlet of Kalchevo is located in the Tundja municipality, Yambol region.
Yambol region is located in the south-eastern part of Bulgaria, including the area of 33555 sq. m. and occupies 3,1 % of Bulgaria. The municipalities – Slivenska, Burgaska, Haskovska and Starozagorska abut on the Yambol region. The south border of Yambol region coincides with the frontier of the Republic of Bulgaria with Republic of Turkish.
The territory is occupied of the Tundja river valley – the Yambol field with about 120 meters altitude , Elhovsko field with 100 meters altitude, Bakadjitsite, a part of the Svetiiliiski and Derventski elevations. The relief is level-hills with altitude 100 – 150 meters.
The climate is the trans continental in the north part of Srednotunjanskoto river valley, in the south parts of the region replough the continental- Mediterranean climate. In the Tundja valley the local wind “belomorets” blows.
The Tundja river passes through the region of Yambol. It is the fourth longest river in Bulgaria – 398 km. Ones of the biggest feeders of the Tundja river are: Mochuritsa, Popovska, Kalnitsa. In the village of Malko Sharkovo is located the artificial lake – Malko Sharkovo (the biggest artificial lake in the Bulgaria).
The mineral spring are located near the villages of Stefan Karadjovo and Pravdino and the town of Straldja. There is a sanatorium complexes and a medicinal spring. The curative qualities of the water are very like to these from “ Karlovi vari “ - Czech and to 'Kislovodsk' – Russia. Hhydrocarbonate – magnesium mineralized water is recommended for heart-attacks, kidney- urological and stomach-diseases . Its quality and capacity enable that the tourism in all settlements around, including the village of Kalchevo, to develop.
The Yambol region has an ancient history.
The remains left over from bygone age confines of Yambol region – date of VII B. C. They are revealing in the settlements, situated in the river Tundja valley and feeders. The remains of two huge settlements hills, are revealing in the territory of Yambor region – Marcheva and Rasheva hills; there are encountering a materials of the neolith and eneolith of Bronze Age. A large part of finds are find and now they are in safe-keeping in Paris Luvar and in the Archaeologist Museum in the capital city of Sofia. To this day of the territory of the region are find than 270 prehistoric settlements and hills. The biggest concentrations of a megalith memorials- dolmens are located near the the villages Hliabovo, Sakartsi and Bulgarian clearing in the territory of Bulgaria. Unique the rock shrine of the sun of than 100 cut plates, in the region of Paleokastro, neat to Topolovgrad. A such sanctuary is found in the region of the village of Melnitsa. Of the territory of the Yambol region, near the village of Kabile are located ones of the uniques archaeological reservoir (with area of than 500 sq. m.) at our place, including confines of the Tracian town of Kabile.
At the rate of Tundja river – from Sliven through Yambol region – to the border of Republic of Turkish – is abounding in possibility for culturally – cognitive tourism.
The possibility for a rest and medicinal tourism , hold out the chalets and complexes of the Bakadjitsite tops. The air there is curative for the pulmonary cases. The more of Russian doctors before than of 150 years. The nature fact in the reserves are Balabana, Gorna and Dolna Tupchia, around Elhovo region are unique.
